Covek po imenu Uve/En Man Som heter Ove *book and film* REVIEW | Laguna

Ove is a curmudgeon, the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him the bitter neighbor from hell, but must Ove be bitter just because he doesn’t walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time?

Behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul. All of which will change one cranky old man and a local residents’ association to their very foundations.

A man named Ove is remarkable. He brought so much warmth, laughter, joy and at the same time tears in my boring and gloomy September days. Ove has become my everyday life and habit, and now that I’ve finished reading the book, I miss it. I miss his stubbornness , the man with big heart, seemed without emotions, and lost, and unhappy, but all of this because he misses the love of his life. Sonja was everything to him, even though he would never understand why she actually married him. She was a woman that you could only love , according to Ove. A woman full of happiness, joy, and love for everything. Ove do lived a hard life before her, and she brought in colors, all colors. He did not live before, but even after. In fact, strange things man misses when someone is gone, trifles, smiles, the way in which he is turned in a dream, painting for her.

Ove unthinkably responded to the requests, sulkily and furiously, and then he closed himself in the four walls and thought what Sonja would say and how she would react. And always come back, and do it how Sonja would. He loved her so much. And he was missing her too much.

Moreover, Parvani, a new companion from the crossroads, unbelievably reminded him of Sonya, all the slippery, slanted, although , Parvani married the incompetent, as Ove called him, but she had that smile and that cheerfulness. That is why they became the best friends, and she returned at least part of the cheerfulness in his life. Like Jimmy, Patrick, Parvani’s and Patrick’s children, Anita … even the “gay person” that Ove receives as his roommate until he settles his relationship with father.

At first glance, he was a great glimpse, a roar, a man who sees everything black and white, but after all, there is a story, and a lot of sadness and much tears. Which is the point of everything, that it should not be judged on the basis of the first impression.

At the end of his life, he will die happily, filled, and not alone. He was surrounded by people who really loved him.

After I finished this remarkable book, I watch the film *En man som heter Ove*. I can truly say that the film is very good. It really describes all the characters as they are in the book, the events, and Ove himself. There is probably a few differences, but I didn’t expected this much from a movie. I really felt and imagine characters in my head, while reading, as the are in movie, which is really cool, and I really enjoy it. So I recommend to everyone, to watch it, but of course, to read the book, that became my favorite.
